Congratulations to Brittney Sofie and her soccer teammates for winning the championship trophy recently on a rain-soaked and muddy field; Brittany thought the field conditions were great fun!; Vi Embree found out that her niece Penny Martinez works in the building next door to where the tragic events occurred at Fort Hood, Texas; Penny and her co-workers were in lockdown during the incident…. Doug Erickson making the journey to Chicago to watch son Greg graduate from Navy Corpsman training…. Congratulations to Senior Jamie Curtis on earning Honorable Mention recognition for the Olympic League All-League girls soccer team….. Jo Kassinger grateful to new member Brian Howard, who lives in the same apartment building as Jo, for checking on Jo after a recent power outage…. From the “It’s a Small World” file, Port Angeles High School teacher Beth Krause reconnected with Janelle Doolittle, a new naturopathic physician, after worship. Janelle and Beth first met when Janelle and husband Brian, a law enforcement ranger for the National Park Service, were researching places to hold their wedding. Searching for an address in the Snohomish area, they stopped to ask directions from Beth, who also informed them that they also did weddings at her family’s farm in Snohomish. Brian and Janelle checked out the Krause farm and ended up holding their wedding there…. David Mattie and Ted Mattie enjoying a quick trip to southern California to watch David’s school, the University of Oregon, play in the Rose Bowl…. Violet Kildall featured in several of the songs during the “Voices of Light” concerts by the Northwest Women’s Chorale…. Brothers Tom Kuch and Travis Kuch, sons of Peggy Dire and the late Roger Kuch, choosing Houston as the destination for their annual trip to watch the Seattle Seahawks play on the road. We suspect the trip was fun but not the game, a 34-7 loss for the Hawks…. Rosalie Doty’s daughter-in-law, Kristin Doty, a professional calligrapher and artist, being selected to design the Christmas Card sent out by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton…. Rick Leffler being recognized anonymously in a recent newspaper “rave” for his help as a volunteer fireman to assist in turning off a woman’s water after a pipe broke; Rick had the water turned off before the other firefighters arrived. Way to live out your faith, Rick!
