Message from the Pastor
We recently began an ambitious construction project to enlarge our Fellowship Hall and kitchen as well as to make our building more accessible and friendly for those who have mobility issues. Follow the progress of construction by clicking on "Pastor's Blog" at the top of this page and see the changes taking place.

April 6, 2011 Dear Members and Friends of First Presbyterian Church, What an exciting time for us at First Presbyterian Church! We are just a few years away from our Church’s 100th anniversary. Now, with the launching of our Growing in Faith – Expanding our Fellowship campaign, we believe that an expanded facility will enhance our ministry to the community as we move into our second century of service. However, it is important to note that our campaign is not about our accomplishments. It is about what we believe God has called us to do and be. It is about what God can accomplish in and through us as we seek to be faithful. It is about growing in our spiritual lives and accomplishing our mission as a congregation.
During the next few months, our congregational leaders encourage us to join them on an intensive journey of spiritual growth. As part of our Growing in Faith – Expanding our Fellowship campaign, we will study God’s Word, pray, visit with one another in small group settings, and grow in our ability to share our faith. As a church, we want to know better God’s plan for our corporate life and to do God’s will. I invite you to join me in a commitment to increase the time spent studying God’s Word this spring. Todd Haworth and Tom McCulloch are putting together a series of opportunities from which we can choose. They are not only utilizing existing groups such as our Tuesday morning men’s group (Fish Company), the Wednesday morning Women’s Bible study, and Sunday School) but also will be providing some options during other days and times. Spending time in God’s Word is absolutely essential to our spiritual lives and to our campaign. I also invite you to attend one of several small-group Enrichment Gatherings to be hosted during April and May. These informational fellowship meetings are very important and will communicate to everyone in our church family the building and ministry plans for First Presbyterian Church which will be made possible by our campaign. No financial commitments will be asked for or received at these events. You will have a good time gathering with others in our church family, having your questions answered, and learning more about our campaign. Please plan to attend one of these Enrichment Gatherings meetings as an expression of your support and as an encouragement to others. Thank you in advance for your commitments to increased Bible Study and to attending one of the Enrichment Gathering sessions. Thank you also for your faithful dedication to the mission and ministry of First Presbyterian Church! In His Name, Rev. Ted Mattie, Pastor |
