Message from the Pastor

We recently began an ambitious construction project to enlarge our Fellowship Hall and kitchen as well as to make our building more accessible and friendly for those who have mobility issues.  Follow the progress of construction by clicking on "Pastor's Blog" at the top of this page and see the changes taking place.

In running races, there is an exciting moment when the runners go around the last curve of the oval track and begin the final straightaway toward the finish line.  Spectators cheer and exhort them.  The runners summon that last reserve of energy to go just a bit faster.  The runners see the ribbon stretched across the track ahead and they race for it.  It is the exhilarating climax of the race.

Dec._3_-_17_SE_handrails As we near the end of December, it feels like we are rounding the final turn toward the finish of our construction project.  A mid-January completion date is projected and we can now see some of the finishing touches being put on various parts of the project.  My office, with its proximity to the expanded areas, smells of fresh paint on a daily basis  The railings have been installed on the stairs leading to the expanded Fellowship Hall from the 8th Street side (top right).  The ramp on the alley side of the building has been completed and awaits its railings (middle right).  The flooring and cabinets have been installed in the expanded kitchen (lower left).  The sanctuary is decorated in its Christmas finery even as we await the installation of the doors leading into the expanded Fellowship Hall (lower right).  We are into the final turn and ready to sprint for the finish line!
