Message from the Pastor

We recently began an ambitious construction project to enlarge our Fellowship Hall and kitchen as well as to make our building more accessible and friendly for those who have mobility issues.  Follow the progress of construction by clicking on "Pastor's Blog" at the top of this page and see the changes taking place.

Those of you who live in Port Angeles know that the construction is proceeding more quickly than my writing so this posting is my effort to catch up so that a weekly post can then document just the latest developments.  If I do not catch up, we might be starting our next project before you realize that this one is completed.

Old_Kitchen_from_near_fireplaceAs the exteriors of the Fellowship Hall and kitchen additions became visible, several of the interior walls were taken out to accommodate the new configuration.  The photo to the right is of the old kitchen from the area near the fireplace in the Fellowship Hall through the wall where a serving window used to be.  The ramp on the alley side began to take shape as well as the extended platform at the top of the stairs leading to the exterior doors by the office.  What I playfully called a “moat” was dug around virtually the entire building to accommodate the drain pipes that will comply with the City’s new Stormwater Design Plan.  The moat is now filled in so there need not be any worries about alligators.

I have tried to select photos that depict some of the key parts of the work without overwhelming the reader with too much information.  If you would like to see particular areas, let me know and I will try to respond.  In fact, it would help me to know that some of you are actually keeping track of the project through this blog.  That will help me to stay motivated to keep it current.  Email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Below are a few photos of the new things taking shape – the access ramp on the alley side (top left), the kitchen extension (top right), the exterior of the Fellowship Hall extension (bottom left), and the interior of the Fellowship Hall extension.

This is an exciting time for our congregation and we want you to be a part as we seek to be “Growing in Faith – Expanding Our Fellowship.”
