Message from the Pastor

We recently began an ambitious construction project to enlarge our Fellowship Hall and kitchen as well as to make our building more accessible and friendly for those who have mobility issues.  Follow the progress of construction by clicking on "Pastor's Blog" at the top of this page and see the changes taking place.

September 12, 2011- Removal of East Windows in Sanctuary – The planning of any construction project requires difficult decisions to be made when there are two good alternatives and you can only choose one.  That was the case for us regarding the expansion of the Fellowship Hall and its impact on the sanctuary, particularly the two windows on the sanctuary's east side.

Interior_View_of_windows The windows, original to the building when it was built in the 1930s by Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, provided natural light and brightness to the east side of the sanctuary (although on bright mornings, it provided  too much light, brightness, and heat).   With the expanded Fellowship Hall extending past the windows to the south, the natural light was going to be lost except for a small section that would extend above the roof line of the Fellowship Hall.  After many hours of discussion about various options, it came down to one of those difficult decisions that are faced in any building project.  To gain the expanded Fellowship Hall and its availability for overflow sanctuary seating, the most practical and cost-effective option was to remove the windows.  It was a difficult decision and one that was made reluctantly.  The windows were carefully removed and stored for possible use in future construction.
