Deacons Christmas Baskets

2009

On Saturday December 12th, Christmas Baskets were delivered to twenty-one grateful families from our church’s annual project/drive. There were hugs and tearful thanks from recipients! A total of 85 boxes of canned and paper goods, potatoes, onions and carrots were divided among the 21 families based on family size. The smallest families received three boxes each and the largest families received six. In addition each family received a bag containing eggs, cheese, butter and margarine, a frozen turkey and a $25 Safeway gift card to purchase diapers, or other items they might need.

The 21 families included thirty-six adults, fourteen teens, sixteen three to twelve year old boys and girls and seven babies and toddlers. Two families were single adults and nine families were single moms with children. The largest two families were comprised of four adults each, plus their children.

Last year boxes were delivered to eighteen families.

Our thanks to all of you who so generously donated items throughout the year, those who helped set up and assemble the boxes and those who delivered the boxes. It was a success because of all your efforts!

We are already looking forward to our 2010 drive-the need will still be there!

Deacons Christmas Baskets

2010

It's another year and time to begin to think about the Christmas baskets (I know, but you can never be too early). The monthly items of paper products, toiletry items, and household cleaners are listed in the monthly Highlights and on the refrigerator magnets available on the Deacons' table.

We also are collecting canned goods (soups, baked beans, vegetables, tomato sauce, tuna), baking items (sugar, brown or white, flour, choc chips, pumpkin pie filling, Jell-o, pudding, etc), pasta (all types), condiments (mustard, mayonnaise, ketchup), and beverages (coffee, tea, hot cocoa). We will accept any items throughout the year as well as any money you would like to donate. Make sure you designate "Christmas baskets" on your check. In 2009 we provided 85 boxes for 23 families.

You may leave your donations on the Deacons' table in the Fellowship hall. Thank you in advance for you donations. You can contact me or the church office regarding any questions.
