ADULT CLASSES
By the time you read this, the anticipation of the holidays has been dimmed by the needles falling from the tree, the wadded gift wrap stuffed into trash bags, and the candles burned down to an inch of their original height. We hope the true spirit of Christmas still lingers in your heart and homes. The Advent Event and the Sunday School classes in December truly inspired all those who attended. We want to thank Rainy and Genna Birch, Pam Fosnes, Rick Leffler, and Martha Bell for directing and planning each aspect of the Advent Event. The Sunday school children were awesome this year. A special thank-you to the Sunday School teachers who thoughtfully planned and presented the advent topics.
As we look forward to 2010, we hope you will join us in an adult Sunday School Class. We have some interesting contemporary issues with a Christian moral to offer in the next 2-3 months. The topics include: Assisted Reproductive Technologies taught by John Taylor; Give Me Your Tired and Poor: US Immigration Policy taught by Don Evans; Water: Precious Gift and Endangered Resource taught by Jason Mayo and Land: Conservation and Renewal taught by Jason Mayo. Watch your bulletins for the topic and place. Encourage your high school and college age student to attend these classes. There is a class for everyone and we invite your participation.
Your Christian Education Committee wishes you love, joy, and peace in the New Year.

YOUTH CLASS
"Our Neighbor's Faith" - Middle School youth will be spending time on Sunday mornings this Fall looking at the many shapes of the Christian Church. The class will read about & discuss many familiar traditions like Methodist, Episcopal, Baptist, Roman Catholic, Assembly of God, Nazarene and other denominations. We'll also spend a little time talking about other faith traditions outside of Christianity in order to be generally familiar with our neighbors who might be Muslim, Hindu or Buddhist for example. We expect to learn even more about our Presbyterian roots and teachings as we talk about the similarities and differences between the many great traditions of Christian faith around us. This class is led by Paul and Melinda Smithson.
